If You Can't See My Mirrors I Can't See You (2010)
Single channel video (15').
Kim Coleman and Jenny Hogarth.
If You Can't See My Mirrors I Can't See You invites the audience to eavesdrop upon the artists' Skype conversation. The dynamics of the dialogue are recorded and reassembled, to reveal spaces between and around objects and subjects. The computer screen operates as both a mirror and lamp, whilst acting as a frame into another world and a mimetic means of duplicating information.
If You Can't See My Mirrors I Can't See You was commissioned by Serpentine cinema CINACT. The artists showed the works alongside short videos by film-maker and artist Agnes Varda. It has subsequently been screened at the Minneapolis film festival (experimental film selection), CIRCA, Newcastle (solo show), My Body Lying in the Heather, MK, Milton Keynes (selected by Inheritance Projects.)
